This is a really nice sounding mix Peter! A couple of things that caught my ear: Perhaps fatten up the dobro/slide part a little. Lovely solo by the way. :) You might also let the fiddle have a little more of the same reverb treatment everything else has. As far as the lip smacking, I've had good luck using a fairly steep low pass filter to roll off the extreme top but leave the presence alone. If it starts to sound a little dark give it a bump just below the cut off freq of the low pass. You can usually find a spot where you keep the clarity and lose the smack. :) Last thing might be to back the attack time down a bit anywhere you're using a compressor. It'll let a little more of the point and body of the instruments to come through. This is all pretty nit picky stuff. It really does sound nice! Great job!

And I dig your voice.

Thanks, Don & Steve - and, my latest idea for a t-shirt:
What 'REHEARSAL'? -
It's Bluegrass!
:P

OR - for that Front Porch feeling, it's an
OVERALLS MIX :? 8-)

Very nice tune, performance and mix. Only tip I can offer is that in Bluegrass the mandolin serves as the snare, and is kept in the center.

Thanks for that tip, Dave. I have said to others that very same thing - about the mandolin (chop chords) being the snare drum of the band -
while the bass is the kick.
However - with 4 vocal parts to this track, AND featuring sort of a 'dueling/duet' solo break with mandolin & lapsteel sharing it...
I opted to give them each their own 'wide space' in this mix... and not crowd the middle where the vocals sit.
Also - I did NOT want to have too strong of a drum/groove - but more of a lazy-swagger, to feel like a lullaby, and not a dance tune.
Hope that makes sense.

Nevertheless - I greatly appreciate the listen and feedback! :)
Cheers.
