too new?! Crooner/Big Band/Lounge Music

Post by funsongs » Sun Jun 04, 2017 10:38 am

Hi Taxi Forums Peeps.

Just saw this listing pop up this morning - and I've got 5 brand new Crooner/Sinatra/Big Band SONGS - that are in WAV files, being readied
to order manufacturing from CD Baby. They are romantic-type lyrics, septet Lounge Band... but NOT SPECIFICALLY about Las Vegas or gambling.
BUT - you would most definitely hear these songs in a Vegas show or hotel.

I don't even have them handy and in mp3 format, as required to upload them to my Taxi Homepage.
The deadline's a few days away, so I may be able to make that happen...
wuddayathink?
Would you pop the 5-er's for this submit? (actually, I'd submit whatever the max is... 3?)

ORIGINAL LAS VEGAS SONGS with Male or Female Vocals are needed by an EXCLUSIVE A-List Music Licensing Company with tons of great TV and Film placements to their credit. They need excellent, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs (Vintage or Contemporary productions can both work) that could be found on playlists with artists like (but not limited to) Frank Sinatra, Shirley Bassey, Elvis Presley, Dean Martin, etc., etc., etc. Please review the following classics as a general guide for the sound, vibe, and style they need:

“Luck be a Lady” by Frank Sinatra

“Big Spender” by Shirley Bassey

“Viva Las Vegas” by Elvis Presley, The Jordanaires

“Drink To Me Only…” by Dean Martin

TAXI Tip: They would prefer to hear songs in genres like Big Band, Crooner, or 50s/60s Rock & Roll.

Please submit original Songs that have a classic, timeless appeal with plenty of swagger and attitude. Your songs should have solid musicianship and awesome vocals that have that kind of Rat Pack vibe that makes you want to break out the tux and drink a martini. What ever happened to that Las Vegas?!

Recently recorded Songs that have a classic feel and style can work for this, as well as material recorded back in the day. This is all about having the authentic vibe. If you could hear your song in Oceans Eleven, Viva Las Vegas, Casino, Bugsy, Meet Me In Las Vegas, etc., you’re probably on the right track!

Lyric themes including the name, “Las Vegas” could work well, and so could lyrics that cover a wide range of concepts like, Being Lucky, Rolling the Dice, Taking a Gamble, Going Out on the Town, and anything else that sounds “Vegas-like.” Lyrics that avoid specific names, dates, and profanity will be appreciated. If your lyrics mention general themes about Vegas, casinos, nighttime, that shouldn’t be a problem. Please do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and vibe. Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This Library offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so the material you submit for this pitch CANNOT be signed with any other publishers or catalogs. Sync fees will be split 50/50. The Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher’s share, and you’ll get 100% of the Writer’s share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit one to three Songs online or per CD. All submissions will be screened and critiqued by TAXI and must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Saturday, June 10, 2017. TAXI #S170610LV

Just my opinion, but it sounds like they want songs about Vegas, not necessarily what songs you might hear in Vegas. "My Kinda Town" by Frank Sinatra might also be on the list if it was about Vegas and not Chicago!

Thanks, Len - that's sorta what I figured: the verbiage about having Las Vegas mentioned seems to be the deal-breaker for what I have to offer.
I'm okay with waiting for the proper Crooner/Sinatra/Big Band listing - I'm aware that this style is becoming increasing 'revived', and popular.
