Listing #Y170712II
Hi Everyone,
I just submitted for the above listing. It is for an Indie Rock Instrumental. Although I am a huge fan of indie, alternative, punk, etc, I usually stick to House and Techno when making songs. So this one was took me out of my comfort zone, which is a good thing. I would welcome any feedback. I am always trying to learn! Thanks for listening.

UPBEAT INDIE ROCK INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a NON-Exclusive Music Library with a rapidly growing list of great placements. They’re looking for catchy, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Indie Rock Instrumentals that would fit well on a playlist with acts like (but not limited to) Cage the Elephant, Arctic Monkeys, The Neighbourhood, etc., etc., etc. Please listen to the following references to get yourself in the general stylistic ballpark of what could work for this pitch:
“Trouble” by Cage the Elephant https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rTNxaUgL80
“Snap Out of It” by Arctic Monkeys https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_O_T6Aq85E
“Sweater Weather” by The Neighborhood https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCdwKhTtNNw

Hey Jason,
Angels on Top is much to pop punk sounding for this listing...
The example tracks have a completely different feel than this...much more laid back.
Also the drums are just not organic enough sounding...(not real enough).
At :31 and 1:18 you can hear when the guitar loop starts.
I would add more reverb to everything...the examples are very lush sounding not dry at all.
This track might work for a pop punk listing but not for this one.
My 2 cents,
Tim

Hi Tim,
Thanks for listening and for the feedback. I appreciate it. I noticed the guitar loop issue too. I tried to edit it with fades, but couldn't get it to gel. Thanks again!

They are the worst! I work in Logic and I tried to edit the loop. I tried automation, I tried cross fading it and couldn't get it. By that time I was approaching the deadline so I needed to submit it. I agree with the drums. I do mainly Electronic music and am so used to drum machines that I have a hard time getting organic sounding drums. It's something I am definitely working on!

It is probably the loop that is messed and there is nothing you can do to fix it..sometimes that is just how they are.
As you know..it's tough to go from Techo or EDM to Indie!!!!!
Thanks,
Tim

It really is! It's funny because I listen to 70's punk, and 80-90's alternative. It's what I grew up on, but do electronic music. Oh well, who said music makes sense
