Avid support rant

Post by lesmac » Thu Aug 03, 2017 7:58 pm

Sometimes I miss seeing things that are right in front of me but usually through persistence I can navigate through the processes and jump through the hoops the digital world imposes upon us.

When it comes to Avid I have drawn the line. I find their lack of support and introducing charges for problems that in all likely hood are of their own making frustrating and appalling.

Being a Pro tools 11.0 user I tried to update to 11.3 but suddenly my products have disappeared from my account. Their merry go round of processes to deal with an issue is driven by a desire not to employ staff. Each scenario to deal with this through the website turned up invalid results or sent me round in circles like a dog chasing it's tail.

I purchased products in 2009 and have upgraded regularly since then. I have all documentation to go through their processes but to no avail. I prefer to buy outright and not to rent which is more cost effective for me.

I'll stick with the version I have now and in the meantime will swing over to Logic and kiss the so called 'industry standard' goodbye.

I know I'm venting here but that is my experience.

I'm going to have a nice day starting now.

Not straight jackets? [like at Avid]. I'd rather be bent :P

My mistake. I was just one click away from getting the case request.
I've had a bit on my plate lately and.....Things are looking up :D

I finally got a support ticket and am waiting for a reply.

Logic still looks like an incredibly worthwhile DAW for the money.

The pro tools keyboard shortcuts will make the transition a bit smoother too.

Sorry to hear Lester. I share your pain about once every other year or so. Pay Avid $50 just to get somebody on the phone for support. Anyway, good luck...

Re: Avid support rant resolved

I did receive support and have had my issues with products resolved. Correspondence was via email. Follow up was good.

I think the website is still a bit tricky to navigate and the page to register a case with support is pretty hard to find.

Case closed :!:
