Ears please

Post by ronnie35 » Mon Sep 18, 2017 5:11 pm

My attempt at listing# ORGANIC UNDERSCORE INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a hard-working Music Library with a VERY impressive list of placements in TV shows and Commercials.

This listing eight months ago ran as TAXI #S170222UI, but the Music Library didn’t find what they were looking for and asked us to re-run the listing one more time. If you submitted to listing #S170222UI, please send in different material this time around. Please listen to the following references to get an idea of the broad range of styles that could work for this request:

A Beautiful Mind Soundtrack – Main Theme https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vr18I1PCECg

“Prospectors Arrive” from There Will Be Blood https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6YndFacEnk

Theme from “To Kill a Mockingbird” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_t98LWNwUhI

IMPORTANT NOTE: These examples above were likely scored to picture and go through different moods, tempos, etc. because of scene changes. For the purpose of this request, you’d be very wise to stick to a singular motif and mood throughout your entire piece so your submission is cohesive from top to bottom. If your piece goes through different moods, tempos, and styles, it’s going to be nearly impossible to use it in a scene.

Give them well-crafted Instrumentals that effectively deliver a textural display of instruments that blend in and out of each other to create a unique piece of engaging Underscore.

The client is very open to a variety of moods, styles, and tempos, so give them Instrumentals that convey one emotion throughout, whether it’s exploratory, mysterious, anticipatory, wondrous, or even a bit scary. In all cases, use natural sounding instrumentation. If you’re using Virtual Instruments or samples, they’ll need to sound really good, and be executed well enough that they sound like the real thing!

Your submissions should be at least 2:00 in length with good edit points and buttoned endings so that a Music or Picture Editor could cut the music to fit a scene. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine).

This company does Exclusive and Non-Exclusive deals. The terms of the agreement will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis. You must own or control 100% of your Master and Composition rights. Please submit as many Songs as you’d like, online or per CD, and include lyrics! All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis – Short critiques only. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), Thursday, September 21st, 2017. TAXI #Y170921OU

Submit to this listing TAXI # Y170921OU the piece is called UNIMAGINABLE MOMENTS ON http://www.soundcloud.com/777rd Thanks ,Ron :)

I like it, Ronnie. What jumped out at me is that it is very clean and open. Almost airy, with lots of room in it, not constricted at all. You achieved a feel that's minimalistic yet still has lots of texture, if that makes any sense! The choir "ah"s did jar me a bit. They seemed to me to be a little up front in the mix, but overall I like the track.

My humble (and slightly rambling) .02. Good luck!

Very nice ... First let me say that your production is very good
I have a Question about the middle section ... It seems to have more tension than the first and third sections due to the timing of strings ... was this your intention?

Thanks MJFROG Yes The piano plays a variation of the main theme in the mid section with added elements from other instruments which adds a little more drama. Now I hope it isn't to much. :)

Beautiful piece Ron! :D
The center feels too empty to my ears
I would center the choir and push the basses a little more towards center
The Left side Violin stands out as midi because it's all alone out there, maybe bring it a little more towards center to help mask it some.
2 cents from the peanut gallery! :P
Nice Work!

I love the music Ron.
What was off-putting for me was the bass! It was panned to the right and for me, put the whole tune out of balance. However, as I'm sure you know, its an easy fix.
Great music Ron 8-) ;)

Really enjoyed it. Beautiful mood.

I second cassmcentee's comments about the mix.

The part that worked the least for me was the string riff in the middle section. The minimalist, spacious first and last bits were really enjoyable.

Hi Ron.
Really loving this piece. The bass being too far to the right has already been pointed out but one thing I would like to add is that at 1.00 it seems to fight a little, rhythmically, with the piano.
That's how it feels to me anyway. I feel like, although the bass is trying to create more movement here, it's getting in the way of the piano and maybe should be simpler. Just my 2 ha'pparth and take no notice.
Great piece and good luck!
Best/SJC
