Usage of "Free loops"?

I'm wondering am I really authorised to freely download and use free loops in sites as https://www.looperman.com

In terms it says:

While you may use loops in your own productions / tracks / video soundtracks etc you can NOT claim copyright of those loops as is or as part of your orignal composition. You may claim copyright of your composition but NOT of any content that is downloaded from looperman.com. Should you use loops within media uploaded to sites such as youtube, soundcloud etc you must make it known in the description of your uploads that you used content from looperman.com.

Basically I should be fully free to use samples in any submissions via taxi but if I'm contacted by a library, supervisor etc that they want my track, do I need to tell them that:

"Here is my track but it has 1 sample that is royalty free but I should let you know that its downloaded from looperman.com"

The underlined part is not standard. I would stay away from it. I would not use them in any submissions or use them period.

There are plenty of free loops from less questionable sources, with better licenses. Usually they are samples of larger sample packs that you can buy at a nominal charge. They are usually recorded with better equipment, offered in a better format than mp3, and also offered dry without a lot of reverb or room ambiance.

I would stay away from these not only as a copyright issue - libraries and publishers are NOT going to want to deal with this - but also just from the fact that they are loops and therefore not 'human' enough. And it is likely that free sounds downloaded from the internet are not going to be truly professional sounds.

The definition of loops I use is the one that are actual audio of human performances of phrases and songs that can be cut and spliced into a new performance. The other loops like the kind added to samplers usually rely on midi, loop markers, crossfading, etc. to get a performance, so really depending on how you splice it,lol, either method can sound human or not human enough.

There are paid for services that have less ambiguous licencing terms when it comes to using their samples as part of a derivative work.

I would just bite the bullet and sign up to somewhere like Splice.com then there's no grey area.

Not true..they can be as a human as anything else..or not...I pitched a 30s piece for an Ad Agency and used a 3 second violin sample to ramp into the 2nd half as I can't play one myself.

I stay away from free loops because there is usially a catch in the license that prevents you from claiming complete ownership of the master. Even the free "demo" version of paid products can have a clause that prevents you from using the contents commercially unless you buy the full product. But it depends. You just need to check its usage end user license agreement.

i only use outside loops/backing tracks/beats, free or not, for non commercial purpose, unless it's a collab.
