Dramedy Forward-Long Drought is Over
Hello,
You would have thought I won the lottery but after a long streak of returns, I am super pumped for getting a forward on a dramedy cue. This is the first dramedy cue I have composed. For anyone new to the game or have suffered many consecutive returns like I have, DONT give up if you love music and are willing to work hard and study. Also, don't be afraid to try different genres. I had a forward early on when I joined Taxi but since then have had 23 consecutive returns before getting this forward. Many of my returns were stylistically off target and some I pitched more than once. For this forward, Dean Krippaehne's book Demystifying The Genre motivated me to try a dramedy cue. Also, it's finally clicking that simplicity is what is needed and not having the most complex composition. Taxi TV and the Taxi Forums have been huge assets not only for the educational aspect, but also the motivational aspect. I have only been to 1 Road Ralley and that was a huge educational experience and hope to go again soon. Below is the track Sneaky Snake that was forwarded along with the corresponding listing.

QUIRKY DRAMEDY-Style INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by an International Production Music Library with an awesome, 20-year history of great TV and Film placements. They’re very eager to find some fresh Dramedy Cues that can range from quirky and mischievous, to playful and silly. Please listen to the following references to get in the general stylistic wheelhouse of what they’re looking for: Will Dives In | The Little People” (0:00-0:55) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSnuEbcaOY0 Project Runway (:23 - :47) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIukd6qvpu4 Leah Remini: It’s All Relative (0:29 – 1:09): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_RvJqA4pl8 Please send them well-crafted Instrumental Cues that reflect the fun and quirky range of styles in the references above. Build your Cue around a central melodic theme while adding and subtracting layers of instrumentation as it progresses to add dynamics, interest, and some forward momentum. You’d be smart to avoid submitting anything that’s too frenetic or overly busy for this pitch, as it could distract from a scene’s dialog. TAXI Tip: Many music libraries already have a lot of Dramedy-style Cues, so this company is looking for material that sounds fresh, with that little something extra that will make TV editors gravitate to it. Your submissions should be about 1:30 in length, give or take. Non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings will work best.

Congrats, Bill; and "Good onya" for sticking with what you apparently enjoy doing.
The track does have an upbeat, whimsical vibe to it... to these Old-Guy ears.
Cheers, and good luck to its finding a welcome home, library, whatever.

Hi Peter,
I did write lyrics to Almost Fall years ago and I recoded my own vocals but I have thought about asking a good female vocalist to sing and record them. On the list of things to accomplish.

Thanks Anna, Roc, and Loren.
Peter - I have not written any lyrics to Light On My Soul. I checked out your Soundcloud page. Cool stuff and looks like you write in many different genres.
