Song Delivery.

Post by dbmeaudio » Fri Jan 12, 2018 5:01 pm

Ok, so I finally got something past the forwarding stage. They are requesting the standard 2min instrumental plus 60, 30 & 10 sec versions plus Stem mixes.
The 2min, I'm assuming is the only one that's required to have stem mixes right? The 60's, 30's & 10 sec ones are standard 'jingle' type edits right? No stems?

Yup, it's my 1st one of these. I've done tons of jingles but jingles didn't require stems, just edits.

Anyone been down this road? If so, can you share your experience so I know I'm in the ballpark?

Thanks in advance.

Del

Congrats!! :D
Yes, the alt mixes should be based off the full 2 minute version. However, if any of the alt mixes would have a gap in the beginning (e.g. it opens with drums and you do a "no drums" mix), you should ask the library if you should remove the gap. Same for gaps in the middle. MOST libraries I've dealt with, for alt mixes, do not want any gaps. But there are exceptions so, if this applies to your tracks, I would ask.

Great to see your success!!

Best,
:D Casey

Thanks so much for the advice and the congrats. As a matter fact I do have one alt mix with nothing going on in the beginning. On the delivery specs they said blank spaces and sparse mixes are okay. I did the alt mix based on that.

Uploading: The library's ftp upload site is a bit slow. I've uploaded everything at least a 1/2 doz times and still can't get it to go through. Is there a magic wand or do the stars need to be aligned? I'm hanging on the stem file zip upload. I'm using the browser they spec'd and Winzip. Any insight on this? Im thinking it's a server bandwidth issue.

Thanks again for the help and insight. It's truly appreciated.

D
