Listener #276 - more perspicacious than you know :-)
Listener ID # 276
Listing # U180114AP
Song Title: CARRY ON, MY COUNTRY
"Thematically this song is on target for the listing. Melodically, it's a little more in the realm of Folk/Choral aggregations like the Mike Curb Congregation, ardent and serious, but without as much Rock or 'grease' on it as this listing is looking for."
Funny thing is: I was actually in The Mike Curb Congregation!!
During the Bob Hope Bicentennial "Stars & Stripes" television special filmed in Oklahoma City - link below - they performed a patriotic song at 01:55 called "I'm just a flag waving American". Sometime after the show I wrote my own patriotic song (which you just RETURNED) while sitting at midnight in the parking lot of Mayfair Market on Franklin Avenue in Los Angeles...right down the street from where Janis Joplin killed herself.
I danced and sang throughout the show and sat in for a song with the Les Brown Band of Renown! I'm in the maroon pants and halter top with long dark hair starting at 5:35 and in the long, lavender skirt starting at 43:29:

No...I joined after that. And I was hired to be their piano player in the band on the road. The musical director Bob Summers (Mary Ford's brother) was SO nice because he didn't want to leave the band at home for the Bob Hope tv show--a huge and awesome gig--so me and the bass player (Bill Von Ravensberg) got to dance and sing! (Can't remember why the drummer Danny Shanahan didn't do the show, but whereas Bill was amazingly great, I just can't picture Danny singing and dancing!) But that's why I got to sit in with the Les Brown Band of Renown on keyboards...just me, not Bill come to think of it...their pianist gave a thumbs up when he slid back in his seat which made my day.RockChild56 wrote: So did you sing on the Kelly's Heroes Theme song "Burning Bridges"?
