TAXI often presents the most useful/suited material first—it isn't necessarily ordered by submission date. You're better off concerning yourself with nailing the listing rather than the point at which you submit—at the end of the day, it's really about having the best piece for the listing. The more suitable/useful it is, the more it's likely to stand above fellow competing forwards. There are so many variables you just can't plan for—time constraints being one of them. Concentrate on producing the best possible music for the setting, and beyond that.... write, submit, forget, repeat! 8-)

Another question is this "Are all of the forwards sent at the same time? based on the 10-30 day response time from the screener." or are the screeners screening and forwarding immediately regardless of the submission dealine?
Members might receive forward notifications at different times (from what I've heard) but the material doesn't get forwarded individually to publishers/sups. It's all compiled on one CD after screening and then passed on. It has been mentioned on a couple of TAXI TV episodes that they may place the more suitable material first on this CD as TAXI's job is first about fulfilling the need of the client.
It's something that's beneficial to both TAXI and members—if the client is consistently hearing music that meets their needs they're likely to continue using TAXI as a service. Which means more opps for members.

Hi Jeff,

There's no advantage in submitting early or being "first in line." All material is sent to the listing company at the same time. We DO try to put the material we think is most well-suited first on the list when forwarding to our clients. If we show them great material right off the bat, they're more likely to keep listening.

If we show them something not as exciting in the pole position (not that we forward mediocre material), they could get less than enthused about hearing the rest. Putting the strongest music first is not just a TAXI practice, it's pretty much industry wide, and has been for decades.

BTW, when the A&R people at TAXI sit down to screen, the music served to them comes up randomly, not in the order it was submitted. We do everything we can to give each submission a fair and equal chance.

Hope this helps,
Michael
