BUMP -
shamelessness has no limits, right?

can hardly wait to add in the authentic Uilleann pipes, whistles, and flutes - NO COWBELL!

its a great piece Peter.
If it was in peer to peer I'd say you don't really need the wide guitar with so many other instruments competing for space but its not so I wo.......

I'm interested in understanding what your comment means - where would YOU place the guitar?lesmac wrote:its a great piece Peter.

FYI - in Trad music (maybe you already know this) - it is primarily very melody-centric; so the rhythm guitar plays a much less dominant/supporting role...
at least, that's what I've heard & learned as a Noob to the genre.
Thanks for the ears.
After the final mix, likely I'll post it up in the peer-to-peer for production critiques.
Cheers.

Is the guitar double tracked? It sounds wide. With a lot going on I'd have one mono at maybe 25 or 75%. If you want him moving around the tables?..... that could be a bit distracting.I'm interested in understanding what your comment means - where would YOU place the guitar?

I'll have to check next session - I think we did record 2 separate passes with the rhythm guitar. It's not uncommon to have multiples of instruments in a Trad Seisiun... we regularly have anywhere from 6 - 12, or more, players: fiddles dominate, followed by tenor banjos, flutes, whistle, Uilleann pipes, concertinas, accordions, mandolins, mandola... seldom a bodhran, guitar, harp.lesmac wrote:Is the guitar double tracked? Thanks for the ears - we'll pay attention to that.
It's actually quite fun, even impressive, when we've had 12-15 players... and it starts sounding like an orchestra...
sorta like this...

Gone PUBLIC... though it's still a work-in-progress...
needing Uilleann pipes, flute, whistle - stay tuned.
