If not manufacturing CDs - what's next best thing?

Post by funsongs » Wed Jun 13, 2018 12:00 pm

For some of us Old-Guys (still using a flip fone, email, and listening to CDs in the car) - getting up-to-speed on getting original & new music 'out-there';
other than Soundcloud -
1) WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND? And -
2) WHY?

In advance - thank you.

hey peter,

what do you mean by getting music “out there”? you mean where to have music available for consumption the way CD’s were at retail?

I suppose that's part of it - but more than the monetizing of it - getting to the sorts of devices and sites that most people are using.
Seems even newer cars don't even have CD players - so, other than listening panels at the RR - those are going to be obsolete before long.

Streaming market share has grown a lot over the past few years. You may notice a lot of music supes and TV shows even have their own playlists on streaming sites. I even had a music supe make it mandatory that I had the song being placed to be available on Spotify because they really wanted to help promote the show with the playlist.

there are quite a few aggregators available now to get your music into digital retail that are relatively inexpensive.
