3 from 3 - a real shot in the arm

Post by Wizofozland » Fri Jun 29, 2018 3:29 pm

I have been a taxi member for a year now... and slowly getting it through my thick noggin, what to do...or more importantly
WHAT NOT TO SUBMIT.... :D

I have been having a slew of returns, for things I thought were on the money...certainly hardens the ego....

Anyways just what I needed this morning, reading my mail in bed, and I see that familiar "listing result..." email.. and warily look for the "sorry" part....

All 3 tunes I submitted for the listing, got forwarded...

I really need that, its just the motivation I need to keep going.

The listing was

ALT-COUNTRY SONGS with Male Vocals are needed by a large TV Production Company’s Non-Exclusive, In-House Music Library that supplies music directly to its own roster of Hit Reality Shows. Give them Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that could be heard on a playlist with artists or acts like (but not limited to) Whiskeytown, Uncle Tupelo, Son Volt, etc., etc., etc. Please listen to the references below to get a general idea of what they need: “Excuse Me While I Break My Own Heart Tonight” by Whiskeytown: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhUji_YKHJw “Moonshiner” by Uncle Tupelo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppiol9oetOk “Catching On” by Son Volt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5jegeSDitW8 Please submit well-crafted songs that have an authentic Alternative Country sound, with well-played Country-based instrumentation, strong melodic ideas, awesome lyrics, and a vocal performance that that generally reflects the style of the referenced songs. Although they didn’t ask for specific lyric themes, universal lyrics that avoid specific names, places, dates, times, brands, and profanity are always a good bet. Do NOT copy or rip off the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). This company offers a NON-EXCLUSIVE, 50/50 deal. You’ll split any applicable sync fees 50/50. You’ll get 100% of the Master rights and Writer’s share, and the Library will get 100% of the Publishing for any placements they generate. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit for this opportunity. Please submit as many Songs as you'd like online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Tuesday, May 29th, 2018. TAXI #Y180529AC

One of the songs is unreleased as yet.

Congratulations Wiz! I am listening to Dance and Sing (Cry Another Day) right now.

I also really like the "oohs" in the verses of Sweet Love. :)

I really love the production/engineering. Good messages too man.

Keep us posted - rooting for these to get signed.
