Asking for critiques and tips

Post by Horacemix » Sat Jul 07, 2018 7:47 am

Hello Users!

Instead of shameless promoting myself, I humbly ask for your critiques about my music.
Some of the tracks I paste here were made before I joint TAXI, so I was ignorant about a lot of things, about different forms of making music for placements in TV, Movies, etc.

Since I became a TAXI member I just submitted to 5 different listings 1 track each. I got forwarded in 2 (listen here 2-tracks-forwarded-ambient-and-mysterio ... 41081.html)

But I'm interested in having critiques from you not only for the songs I've already submitted, but for those I have in my stock and created before being a TAXI member, in order to discover if any of them are suitable for future listings that may appear, or if I should make changes like the mix/sound, or the structure, the performance, etc.

Song Title: If I go away (returned)

The TAXI Listener Critique
This track feels too wistful for this upbeat romantic comedy.
The Listing
1980’s-Style SOFT ROCK LOVE SONGS with MALE Vocals are needed for a couple of $3,000, Direct-to-Music Supervisor, NON-Exclusive placements in a Romantic Comedy Feature Film. The Supervisor is looking for Down-To-Mid-Tempo Songs in the general stylistic ballpark of these references we got directly from him: “It Might Be You” by Stephen Bishop: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ILbe2DAs39M “Every Time You Go Away” by Paul Young: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfk6sCzRTbM “The Lady In Red” by Chris de Burgh: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gru4IfbKlfU Quoting the Music Supervisor: “Songs should have great arrangements and well-crafted lyrics. A small ensemble is ok, but nothing overly grand for this.” Please submit well-structured songs with emotionally touching melodies, captivating lyrics, and chorus that tugs at the heartstrings. Your production should generally reflect the vibe and style of the Soft Rock references above. Having a great, honest vocal performance with a touching delivery could help you a lot on this pitch. The bar is high for this request, so submit your best! NOTE: The producers of this Film are looking for performances that have depth and a great deal of honesty and sincerity. “Nothing to syrupy or over embellished”. Lyric themes about love and relationships will work best. Lyrics that don’t mention specific names, places, dates, times, brands, or profanity will be appreciated. Do NOT copy the referenced artists in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, texture, and tone. Broadcast quality is needed (great sounding home recordings are fine). The estimated license fee for this sync is $3,000, depending on the ultimate placement. This is a Direct-to-Music Supervisor placement, so you’ll keep 100% ownership of your Master and Composition rights, plus you’ll also get 100% of the sync fee and any applicable performance royalties. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit as many Songs as you’d like online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Time permitting; the Music Supervisor himself might be able to screen submissions for this request! No promises, but we’re hoping!! Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT), on Tuesday, April 17th, 2018. TAXI #Y180417SR
