I just set up my 2012 Mac mini i7 quad core / 16 gb ram / 500gb sad and Bob got both of our old old old 1,1 Mac pros running as 64 bit eight cores - 2.1 ghz / 64gb ram and 3.0 ghz / 16 gb ram and they are operating El Capitan.
Is it worth the switch?

Re: old Mac Pro or keep my mini?
Do you have to give one up? Here's an idea: Load up a project you've done on both machines and see how they perform. Both of those machines are faster than what I'm using (2013 MacBook Air, 1.7GHz i7 quad core, 8GB RAM) and I'm able to write a lot of music on it.

Hi Paulie - I get to keep my mini - I would change that to my day job computer. Good idea about the Mac test -

Those old 8 cores are still pretty powerful for audio. I’m running a 2010 6 core Mac Pro and it’s fine for me.
