Let's just say that the company didn't fully understand the protocol of signing music first, as a result of running a TAXI listing. Maybe a little clumsy on the execution, but now more fully understanding how things work. ;)

best,
Michael

Yeah I got it, too. I didn't think it was anything suspicious.
My libraries often send out emails saying they need something specific.
It's just another opportunity to get placements, take it or leave it..

Yeah, I get briefs all the time too, but it looked like this library took TAXI members info to build up a roster of people to fulfill their requests.

If they liked our submissions they should have signed them.

If Michael didn't explain it, it appeared that a Lib was using TAXI's email list of people to send them opportunities. It's basically doing what TAXI does.

Hmm, OK, I kinda see your point. But I think it's fine.
Once I have a connection with a library, Taxi has done it's (much appreciated) job.
I don't think the library and I need to go back through Taxi each time.
People might be disappointed their submitted cue didn't get signed, but they have all gained the opportunity to submit to these opportunities. Take it or leave it.
I dunno...
I spoke to the library owner. Seems like a genuine guy. He said there was a lot of negative reaction to his process so he has removed the Taxi members from the mailing list again.

Hmmm, guess that explains why I haven’t received anymore briefs. Would like to have though...

I did the same research you guys did but I also asked politely for more info and the guy got back in touch quickly. He also described the TAXI listing my track was forwarded to.

Glad you all shared this info. Now I know another way Libraries approach writers. Learning experience.

Go your own way! Out of necessity, drive, gumption, whatever.. don't let anyone tell you you can't!
It's not what goes into your music that's important, it's what comes out the speakers
