Irish Drum loops

Post by elser » Wed Aug 29, 2018 10:19 pm

Anyone know of a good collection of traditional Irish/Celtic/Bodrahn drumloops? I've searched, Loop Loft, Loop Masters, Drum Core, EXS 24, Kontakt, Groove Monkee, RMX, and the internet. There are some Apple Loops but they're all in 4/4, I need 12/8.

Thanks,
Jon

I did a google search out of interest and found these midi loops.
http://www.irishmidifiles.ie/midifiles.htm

I downloaded the mountains of mourn file and dragged it into pro tools. It opened a heap of different instrument midi tracks. I deleted them all except for the drum track and put it on a percussion sample in Xpand2 and it played.

It could be worth playing around with.

Hi Jon.
Since I've been learning to play Irish Trad Seisiun tunes, I know a few very good bodhran players who MIGHT be able to create something for you;
but I'd have to ask around - and it probably would be a WFH situation. Will you let me know?
Other than that FWIW - I've imported & used a 120 bpm loop I found on YouTube for a double-jig project.
Let me know how you think this sounds/works, please.

Otherwise - good luck on your search; and if you DO find a great resource, I hope you'll share it. There are a few bodhran 'students' for whom something like that could be a great tool for practicing.

Cheers!

HI guys, I ended up using a Wave drum from RMX and just played in my best interpretation of Irish drumming. With a little eq and quantization it's working. It has to be done today so moving on to acoustic guitars.

Thanks,
Jon
