got one (my first)

Post by jaywilliams » Tue Nov 06, 2018 6:28 pm

one day after I'm back from the Rally, I get a note that my track is forwarded.

I've been careful about only submitting tracks that I think will fit, so I'm glad this one fit the bill.

No, I'm not going to go out to dinner or order Dom Perignon, I've got my eye on a new listing with an impending deadline, might try to crank out a track for that listing tomorrow.

anyway, in spite of what you may have heard at the Rally, in this case I'm living proof that you don't need 100s of submissions to get a forward.

in fact, I think that was my 2nd Taxi submission.

hmm, I like those odds, we'll see how it goes!

Congrats! I'm not sure who said you need hundreds of submissions to get a forward..but that's not good advice. Keep up the good work - getting a forward is great proof that you're on the right track. Now do it again, and again, and again, and so on.

Cheers and happy music making!

thanks Mark. there was a lot of emphasis placed on productivity, I may have misunderstood that it takes 100s to get a forward. this one came from my back catalog of tracks, have yet to write one specifically for a listing but it's on my to-do list.

Hello Jay,

Congrats on your forward.

I, too, recently got my first forward, although in my case it took a year and a half and fifteen-ish submissions.

Best wishes.

Congrats Jay!

Now your material is "out there" being heard by multiple music industry professionals. I would say that's cause for a cold bottle of Martinelli's! :D

Good work on the "rinse and repeat" too! ;-)

Yes I misunderstood what he meant originally - and he actually messaged me about it to clarify. I thought he was saying someone at the rally had actually said "you need hundreds of submissions to get a forward". Which is why I said that's not good advice haha. It all happens one forward at a time though! :D

Glad to see you around here as well, Edmond! Are you still killing the trailer stuff? Would love to hear your new music if it's available online!

Martinelli's seems about right, I like the way you think.

Now back to reviewing the listings, deadlines are looming.
