Need a new computer monitor...what's everybody using now?

Post by CharlieErnst » Sat Nov 10, 2018 6:58 pm

Hi All,

First of all, I want to hope that everyone in the path of the fires out there in California can get out safely if they need to and that everyone stays safe. I can't even imagine having to leave my house for something like that.

I am looking to upgrade my computer monitor to something bigger and better. I have been using a LG 24" monitor for years...still works great, but my eyes don't anymore and would love to upgrade.

Should I even look at using a TV as a computer monitor? I use the onboard Intel video card in my PC. Would a LCD TV work better than a dedicated computer monitor?

Thanks for the input and stay safe out there.

Charlie,I wouldn't bother with a tv, a computer monitor will be cheaper. You will probably be upgrading to a higher resolution, hd,min 1920x1080.

A pair of mid-range computer glasses, basically a single vision lens, vs.trifocals, have worked well for me. There are also tinted lens for computer glasses, though mine are clear.

Yeah at least 27’.

The “flicker free” monitors are really much better for the eyes. Make sure it has that. It has done wonders for my eyes. I use a Dell 27’ flicker free monitor, and love it.

My eyes are getting bad too, even with my lenses in. I posted a similar thread to get recommendations on a larger monitor and someone told me to make my display larger--which I did and it helped so much I didn't have to buy a new monitor.

If you need to know where those settings are in Windows, post back and I'll look for the reply I got that had that in it.
