Lovely tunes Anna! Really cool vibe. Piano sounds great!
What piano samples are you using if you don't mind me asking?
Hey Mark, thanks! I do a mix of live recording and sample work, so I've started to keep people guessing as to which is which :D but I'm working with a few different things. I've got an acoustic whitney (by Kimball) at home (one of the nicer sounding ones... ha), and seek out different studios and/or 'specialty' pianos for concept projects/unique projects like this one... or I spend a decent amount of time customizing samples for any virtual work. Use a lot of NIs pianos among other things!

Love the development throughout this, some pretty edgy stuff building up both rhythmically and melodically but with a strong sense of continuity and of a journey from start to end that makes it all make sense. Very nicely done!

Bruce.
Thanks Bruce! So glad you enjoyed it. Thoroughly enjoyed writing it... was nice to do something a bit different for a change!

Since I do songs, and generally know that the structure of one is gonna be something like 2:30 - 3:30... preferring to be even 3:00 or less;
when - if ever - in the course of composing an instrumental piece - do you set parameters for changes and/or the ending?
Do you find an inspired piece difficult to quit/stop/end/wrap up with the satisfaction of it feeling 'complete' and finished?
It's amazing what you do - that you CAN do that - seems like magic.

FWIW - though I haven't listened to a lot of it in recent years - the piano composers were usually my favorite kind of listening music.
Claude Debussy being one of them - probably because I ended up with an LP of his; not autographed, of course... :? :)
Do you know what an LP is? :? :lol: Why of course you do. (Gramps probably showed one to you...) hee hee hee...

Great job. Splendid & superb. :) Even for Old-Guy ears.
Cheers.
Thanks Peter! Glad you enjoyed!

It depends what I'm composing for—if it's for a brief, I usually reference tempo of the reference tracks and then figure out how many measures I need to fulfill whatever time length they're requesting. Then compose within that parameter.

For this—didn't plan a thing. Just wrote until they felt finished! Some of them started as short sketches that I planned on developing further... but every time I added something more, I just felt like I was ruining a good thing.

I'm also a big Debussy fan... played a lot of his work in University.

LP.... that's lollipop, right...? :twisted:
