Hi All
Got this tune and melody, and maybe a title. Wondering if anyone is interested in a co-write? Piano based, Sam Smith, AC?
Here's the track with my scratch vocal to provide the melody. There's a few phrases I like but you can safely ignore them - they're just stubs to demo the melody:

And track only: https://soundcloud.com/si_jackson/somet ... ck/s-e5XO5
Totally open to co-write. Haven't worked out what the song is about, yet. I quite like the hook: sometimes the light/sometimes the load. Maybe mood swings, things being harder than they seem, the fading of a relationship over time, a flash of realisation, self-insight - being too bright, hard to acknowledge?
My thoughts for the track are to swap in a better piano patch - I have Grand Rhapsody. Maybe add some guitar. But otherwise pretty stripped down.
Also thinking to go to a classic verse-refrain structure, shortening the first chorus.
Let me know if you're interested.
Best, Si
Edit: SC links didn't work
Edit: Helps to get the right links!

Hi, Simon
I've been writing lyrics for a few years now and have collaborated with songwriters on a few occasions.
I'd love to put lyrics to your melody.
Here's the link to my songs - I write mainly country, folk, rock but also do some comedy and the occasional punk song.

Unless I hear otherwise, I'll see what I can come up with, I'll follow the themes that you listed.
All the best,

Re: Sometimes The Light
Nice to meet you, Robin. Thank you for reaching out.
Another writer DM'd me about Sometimes The Light and we're working on that one together.
I have another song that I've been meaning to get to for a while: Burning My Boats. It's not as developed but I like it and could fix up the track etc. if you're interested. I've put a rough demo on SC:
https://soundcloud.com/si_jackson/burni ... ts/s-HWxQv
It's just what I think is the chorus, and me playing keyboard, so pretty amateur. But if you want to work on it together, I could start by getting a decent keyboard (EZkeys) MIDI track, fixing timing issues, etc. and add verse, bridge.
I liked your songs on SC, Robin. Quite a range of styles you have there.
