5 for 6 combined on 2 listings!

Post by Casey H » Tue Jan 15, 2019 6:15 pm

Got some nice emails! :D I went 3 for 4 on Y181226TV and 2 for 2 on Y181223SS :D
INSTRUMENTALS or INSTRUMENTAL CUES by SEASONED FILM and TV COMPOSERS are needed by a Leading Company that just started a new Music Publishing and Licensing Division. They are fully funded and are aggressively signing new deals.

NOTE: We purposely passed on putting references in this request, as they could potentially be more misleading or limiting than helpful. The company is open to virtually any Film and TV styles including Dramedy, Urban Dramedy, Tension, Cinematic Orchestral, World Music, Dark and Moody Drones, Hybrid Trailer Style, etc., etc., etc.

If you’ve already landed Music Library deals and placements, this could be the perfect opportunity to get in on the ground floor with this venture! If you’re a new Composer and don’t yet have much of a track record yet, but you do have an amazing sound and the Instrumentals or Instrumental Cues to back it up, they’d like to hear what you've got as well!

Please submit well-composed Instrumentals or Instrumental Cues that could work well in a variety of media like (but not limited to) Film, TV, Documentaries, and Commercials. If you are submitting an Instrumental Cue, your submission should follow a standard Cue format (build your Cue around a central melodic idea, add and subtract layers of instrumentation as your Cue progresses to give it forward momentum and a sense of dynamics.)

While we aren’t giving specific time or length requirements for this request, Instrumental Cues should probably be in the one to two-minute range (give or take), and Instrumentals would probably be best if they come in at four minutes or less, give or take.

NOTE: Even though this request is pretty open, the bar will be extremely high. Only the best of the best will be sent to the client. Your music needs to be top notch for this company!

TAXI TIP: You’d be wise to submit THREE Instrumentals or Instrumental Cues per submission, so they can see if you’ve got depth in your material. It’s NOT necessary to land this, just a suggestion!

Please submit as many Instrumentals or Instrumental Cues as you’d like, online or per CD. All Submissions will be reviewed based on their “usability factor” by the Screener, who has been handpicked by the Publisher. He will be judging based on his “gut.”~~~~ Short Critiques only. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PST) on Wednesday, December 26th, 2018. TAXI #Y181226TV

REFLECTIVE, ACOUSTIC-BASED SINGER/SONGWRITER SONGS with Male Vocals are needed for an (up to) $1,000, Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Supervisor placement in an Independent Feature Film.

The Music Supervisor is currently on the prowl for Down-to-Mid-Tempo Songs that are in the general stylistic wheelhouse of songs like these references the Music Supervisor provided to us:

“Pictures” by Benjamin Francis Leftwich

“Delicate” by Damien Rice

NOTE: They’re NOT looking for clones or soundalikes of those songs, but the tone, tempo, and mood should be in the ballpark of the references.

Please submit well-crafted, emotionally engaging songs with Acoustic Guitar as the primary instrument. Your submissions should have emotionally compelling melodies, with an infectious chorus that could support the scene’s mood. A small band/ensemble, or a guitar/vocal performance can both work for this request, as long as it fits the somber mood they’re after. Your vocal performance should be intimate, with a believable delivery full of emotional pull.

Lyric Tip: They’d like to hear lyric themes that deal with reflecting on life: family, survival, memories, etc. Please avoid lyrics that reference specific names, places, times, dates, brands, and profanity.

Please do NOT copy the referenced artists or songs in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

The estimated license fee for this placement is between $500 - $1,000, depending on the ultimate placement. This is a Direct-to-Music Supervisor placement, so you’ll keep 100% ownership of your Master and Composition rights, plus you’ll also get 100% of the sync fee and any applicable performance royalties. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to pitch for this opportunity. Please submit as many Songs as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Somebody from the Music Supervisor’s team is slated to screen submissions for this, time permitting. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PST), on Sunday, December 23rd, 2018. TAXI #Y181223SS

Cool stuff Casey!
I listened specifically to the forwards for the singer / songwriter tracks.
Great lyric, great vocals.
I got a forward on that one too, but always wanting to learn from others and improve. :)

Well done Casey!

I must confess I went a bit crazy with this listing, submitting 9 tracks .. it just seemed like a really good opportunity being a new library and no fixed genre.

I got 3 forwards and 6 returns. What was interesting to me though, was that my tracks were screened by 2 different screeners ... screener A reviewed 6 of them (3 of them are tracks that I thought were in my top 3) and returned them all with comments along the line of the tracks needing more emotion, more sophistication, a fuller production etc. etc. It was a high bar listing so fair enough I guess.. but then, screener B reviewed 3 tracks and forwarded them all with really positive comments like "This piece is propulsive and evocative. The production and mix are top notch.".. A stark contrast to screener A!

Anyway, good luck with your 5 forwards!
