CONTEMPORARY TRANCE INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a heavy-hitting European Music Library that's expanding and needs lots of new music! They’re looking for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumentals in the ballpark of the references below:

NOTE: We recently ran this request as a TAXI Dispatch Listing (TAXI # D181231TI) but the company didn’t get enough material and asked us to run this request to our full membership list to see if we could find more. If you submitted to TAXI # D181231TI, please submit different material this time around!

"Tuvan" by Armin Van Buuren

"Safe From Harm [Club Mix]" by Markus Schulz & Emma Hewitt

"Airwave" by Rank 1

Although the references have vocals, this request is for Instrumentals only!

Please send well-produced Trance Instrumentals with a contemporary sound and cutting-edge production techniques. Catchy hooks, current-sounding synth and drum sounds, and awesome builds are all things that will make your material more appealing for this pitch.

NOTE: This client needs "16 to 20 tracks" of great Trance, so if you've got it, send it!

Your submissions should be at least 2 minutes long. Non-Faded endings will work best for this request. Do NOT copy the referenced music in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

This company offers an EXCLUSIVE deal, so please be sure the instrumentals you pitch for this opportunity are NOT already signed with any other Companies or Catalogs. Any sync fees will be split 50/50 with the Company. You'll get 100% of the Writer's share, and the Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher's share. You must own or control your Master and Copyright to submit. Please submit as many Instrumentals as you'd like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PST) on Monday, January 21st, 2019. TAXI #Y190121CT

Hey Jay,

I'm just going to mention a few things...
You need to go to the BD on every beat at some point .... or sometimes all the time!
BD on every beat or 1 and 3 and snare on 2 and 4 if needed ( some trance tracks use no snare )..... maybe not all the way thru.... but alot,.
But you definitely need a solid bass drum beat!!!!!
Your bass needs much more depth.... BIG DEEP BASS and BASS DRUM!!!
Notice how the drums drop out in the examples sometimes.....
Your arpeggio it too predictable..... and repetitious..... listen to the examples..... what their arp's are doing and how they evolve.

The claps and the hi hat are too distracting....pull them way back....or eliminate them.

Listen how the examples draw you in..... into a trance!!!! emulate that ....... slowly evolving sounds.

Listen a BUNCH of times to the examples...... listen to them very carefully!!!!..... what they are doing.....

My 3 cents worth,
Tim

Tom and Tim thanks for your feedback guys.

I will do what I can to overcome my aversion to BIG BOOMING BASS and see if I can boost these tracks up to today's commercial standards.

I know Time is everything so I truly appreciate your taking some of your Time to provide suggestions.

Have a great week!

Jay :)

taking the above feedback into account I made a 2nd track, which was returned.

I'm glad there were no screener comments about lack of BASS or VARIETY which are two specific things I was lacking in a track that was reviewed on taxitv this week, so that's something.

I've been experimenting with different types of listings in hopes of finding the kind of listing that I enjoy writing for, and have a half a chance of getting good enough at to create some forwards and placements.

so far I've enjoyed the drone cues (definitely haven't given up on those), and I kinda like these trance tracks but it will take me a few more stabs before I decide to either dig into it or cut the line and move on

anyway-how, here's the screener's feedback on my submit, link to the track at the bottom for anyone who's interested :)

Hi James,
I like the unique synth instrumentation and the minimalist approach to the layers on the electronic instrumental track. Although, the style veers from the listing's request. Consider listening to the references and notice the spacious vibe and use of patterns. The development of melody through harmonic progression laidin hooks and the structure's "stair-step" approach.
