Hi Matt - There are some claps and snaps in EZDrummer, which I just purchased for a different reason so I haven't really had a chance to check them out thoroughly. Just another data point in case it is useful.

Thanks! I own EZDrummer and Kontakt (Komplete) but I did not have a chance to testdrive Mojo's NI instrument. At the moment I am using samples from Loopcloud that sound very organic. I really recommend Loopcloud because it syncs with the tempo and key of your project and allows for auditioning stuff quickly.

Also, there are several Addictive Drums ADPaks that feature claps in a variety of configurations; the Reel Machines pack has several vintage analog drum machine claps and the Modern Soul + R&B pak has excellent finger snaps. It's not difficult to sample your own, but it's surprising how much highpass filtering you end up using. I like a bright mic and a reflective room for this sort of thing, and the quality of any added reverb is critical.

Vintage Dry Clap, Slap, Lap

Modern Soul + R&B Clap, Stomp, Snap, Lap

I'm not entirely sure what a "slap" is, in this context; on a djembe it's the high, ringy sound; maybe it's a typo and they meant snap? The interesting thing is "lap"; the story goes that there were only two people in the room when the Doctor Demento classic, "They're Coming To Take Me Away" was recorded by Napoleon XIV, and they wanted the sound of four clappers, so naturally the two gentlemen dropped trou and smacked themselves on their thighs.

NI's Battery is my favorite at the moment.

Here are the best pop drums I found:

$40: Mantra's kits (google "mantra drum kit")

$30: Feelo's Kit (google "feelo drum kit")

FREE: Spitfire LABS Drums (google "Spitfire LABS")
-These sound like a real drum kit

$7/month: Splice membership
-I just flipped through the whole library in a few weeks so I could get the samples I wanted without paying another month
