Question for those that have found success

Post by DaveZ » Tue Mar 05, 2019 12:30 pm

At the rally last year it seemed like most of the successful members were finding success via Dispatch listings. I am curious, is that the case for most of you or have you done fine solely with regular listings etc?

I have been a member since 2011 or 2012. I did Dispatch for a year once a few years ago. It seemed like it was worth it at the time, but I honestly don't recall if I got a deal directly from one of the listings. Half of my library deals have come directly through TAXI and half are from cold emailing libraries.

If I remember correctly, the Dispatch listings tend to have a much quicker turnaround time, so it could be good if you are versatile and fast. If you aren't, then Dispatch might be a challenge.

Hope that helps.

Ron

Ron,

Good to know, thanks for sharing. That is a good point regarding turnaround time and Dispatch.

Hey Dave,
I too thought about doing Dispatch so I asked Taxi to include me on the Dispatch email list so I could see what was in demand. It turns out that my style (mainly vocal songs) wasn't in high demand, at least at that time. I've had really good luck through the regular listings though! Just give Taxi a call or email them and ask to be added to the Dispatch email list. If you start seeing listings that are in your lane you can sign up right then and submit.
best of luck.

John, Roger that. I definitely see a fair amount that I think I have a shot at (get the listing email) currently there are a bunch of regular listings that are keeping me busy. It's probably not a stretch to think I'll be doing dispatch again down the road.

Not at all. I never did Dispatch.
I feel like Dispatch works for those who crank out LOOOOTS of cues.

To me the community has been the most valuable thing.
Learned so much from everyone here on the forum, on Facebook and one on one.

I have done Dispatch for a number of years and found it to be very useful.... but I agree with the observations made by others that, often times, you need to be able to turn around some ideas fairly quickly (if you don't have something suitable on file). I'm fortunate enough to be able to do that so it works fine for me. Good advice to see the listings for a few weeks to see what sort of thing appears as well.... I do mostly instrumental music production aimed at librairies.... and there seem to be plenty of Dispatch listings in that broad area....

Hi Johnny. I saw your post on the forum and wanted to ask the best way to contact Taxi to get on their Dispatch email list?
I'm considering trying the service out. Many thanks. David

Dave this is Taxi’s main number 818-222-2464. Just ask to have your email added to the Dispatch listings coz you want to see if it will be beneficial for you.

You can also email them. Just click “Contact Us” on the menu. Good luck, John
