ORIGINAL HAWAIIAN, ISLAND STYLE INSTRAMENTALS/QUESTION
I'm very exited about my 7th forward!!! Can anyone explain what to expect when a music supervisor or music library contacts me? For example will it be by email or phone, how do I sign the contract, will they want stems etc..

HI Got2compose,
Every company is different.
Most will contact you via email...
I have been called several times.... but the vast majority is via email.
They will email you a contract to print out... sign and usually scan it and send back to them.
Once in a great while... they want a hard copy mailed back to them.
Some libraries or shows want stems .... actually they usually want alternate mixes...not actual stems.
Usually without drums, without bass and drums, only bass and drums, sparse mix , etc.
Some will also want 30 second cuts and maybe 5 second stingers.
Some will want .wav, some .aif some 24/48k, some 16/44.1k.
Once in a great while I have been asked for 320 kbps mp3.
Hope that helps,
Tim

Hi Tom,
No...you do not need to be signed up for them to contact you..... but you will need to be sighed up with a PRO to get paid!!!
And the library will want your PRO info to register the tracks.... although some libraries will want you to register them yourself.

Go your own way! Out of necessity, drive, gumption, whatever.. don't let anyone tell you you can't!
It's not what goes into your music that's important, it's what comes out the speakers
