Funky Devil
I appreciate everyone’s help.. I feel like I’m improving, especially with my productions.
I wrote this one this morning for the listing.. is it a fit? Is it “driving” enough or too groove-based?
Thanks,
Dan
First example..

MODERN GUITAR-Driven ROCK INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a NON-Exclusive, Music Supervisor-owned Library with a huge number of TV placements to its credit. They're currently on the prowl for Mid-to-Up Tempo Instrumental Cues that would fall in the general stylistic wheelhouse of the following references:
“MANTRA” by Bring Me The Horizon
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAXg78MKJcM
“Dance Macabre” by Ghost
Although the references have vocals, this request is forInstrumentalsonly
Please submit well-crafted Instrumental Cues that generally reflect the guitar-focused approach of the references above. Your submissions can include some synth elements, but please be certain that they are adding to the contemporary sound of your track and are of high-quality. Drum sounds are also very important and must sound as close to a real drum kit as possible - no thin and synthetic-sounding drum samples! Send them Broadcast Quality Cues that sound like they're done with real players using real instruments. This Music Library is very selective, but the catalog gets lots of placements!
Quoting the Music Library Owner: “Your Instrumental Cues must be contemporary and have clean and crisp-sounding guitars. Be sure your Instrumentals have enough sectional contrast and melodic interest to drive a scene and connect sonically with listeners.”
IMPORTANT: All submissions should be between1:10 and 1:50in length. Good edit points and non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings will work best. Do NOT copy the references in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, texture and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

Go your own way! Out of necessity, drive, gumption, whatever.. don't let anyone tell you you can't!
It's not what goes into your music that's important, it's what comes out the speakers

Re: New Track
Sounding good Dan!
I think you could benefit from some more reverb on the drums. They sound a little dry at the moment to my ears for the genre. Possibly some slammed side-chain compression as well to thicken them up.
Also, I would try some heavier master bus compression if you have any at all.
Hope that helps!

Thanks for the help. I boosted the ambiance and reverb for the drums and put a ton of compression on the master bus.
Thanks again,
Dan

Re: New Track

Re: New Track
Thanks Rob, I put a compressor on the mix bus and master bus.. both in parallel with the Reaper wetness dial.
Glad you like it.. I will write more like this!

Re: Funky Devil
Cool, you do this stuff well!
It's not what I was expecting looking at the title.
The kick seemed like it needed a little more weight to me. Maybe the kick and snare could be slightly darker. Nothing drastic, they seemed a bit disconnected to me, sort of floating by themselves a little.
I could be wrong of course....

Re: Funky Devil
Thanks Les.. I appreciate the comments!
I squashed the heck out of it, made the drums more punchy and used a saturation plugin on the master bus to make all the instruments blend better.
