Does this song fit the listing?

Post by SCPos2 » Tue Apr 16, 2019 8:06 pm

Hi, all:

I've been away from Taxi for awhile, and I'm new to the forums, and am trying to better understand their etiquette and utility. I'm not sure if this is the appropriate place to ask for this kind of feedback; but that said....

I would like to submit to listing #Y190422BL, which requests guitar-driven blues w/vocals "in all tempos." It sounds like the supervisor is casting a wide stylistic net and I've got a number of blues I could submit, in different styles. However, the sample listings are all mid-to-up tempo, and I don't want to waste a screener's time.

So here's a link to a song, and I would love your thoughts on whether the listing is broad enough to include it, and if not, why not: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1n5O9U ... N0iae0145p.

Also, does it achieve "broadcast quality?"

Anybody willing to offer feedback? The submission deadline is 4/22.

Thanks.

Steve

Hi Steve,

While this is definitely an authentic blues track....
I don't think it fits the listing.

They want a track for an Action Adventure Fantasy TV Series.
And quoting the supervisor: “I need uplifting songs with plenty of dynamics and Infectious Riffs! Great catchy rhythms with deep pocket energy and drive."

I don't think your track has the dynamics, infections riffs, deep pocket energy and drive they are looking for.... and it is not uplifting.

Also compared to the examples...your track is a bit muffled...can you brighten it up?

My 2 cents worth,
Tim

Music aside, no it doesn't reach Broadcast Quality for me . The drum kit sounds like it has a duvet over it and the guitars sound like they are coming from the rehearsal room next door.

Needs much stronger production to be competitive IMHO

Yeah, it's not broadcast quality. I'd pick a blues a la and remix it to that style (assuming this isn't a live cut).
