Hey Johh,

Overall, it sounds great. The thing I would consider tweaking is the presence of the different elements in the track. The lead vocal is very present, some instrumentation is a little farther back, and the drums (especially the snare) seem very distant. You could probably try taking some of the presence of the lead vocal away, or try making the drums more present to tie it all together a bit more.

Nice song!

Hi John

I'm not much on mixing, though I love the sound of the acoustic guitar. As far as ala's. I think " Blue Rodeo " would be a close contender. I love the laid back feel and I think this would be great for film and TV. I'll let the pros help you with the mix. Nice song :)

Without reading others' comments - listening 'cold turkey'.
1) my 'a la' thought is a hybrid of The Boss-meets-Leonard Cohen... in that 'wheelhouse' - meant as a compliment: cool, relaxed, laid-back vibe.
2) while I like the level and close sound of the drums - they seem to be a tiny bit too much in the same space as your vocal.
Perhaps adding a little reverb to the drums could back them away enough for them to work at the levels they're at now.

Those are just the finicky bits... great track, to these Old-Guy ears.
What sort of listing specs would you be looking for, as a pitch... if any?

Hope that helps.

Hey John! Hope all is well

Listening now:
Sounds nice and clean!
The first E following the B in the opening needs to be attended to, whether it's the bass or guitar, has a wobble/tuning problem
Guessing it's the bass, maybe pressed down too hard on the fretboard?
It's slight I know, but it hit my ears hard the first two times I listened to it, by the 4rth listen it didn't feel as bad, but it is the opening!!!

Mix feels great!

Organ could come up a tiny bit more, would add a little more warmth into the mix

Bass riffs are nice but seem out of place when you are singing at the same time, don't seem to accent the vocal line but rather distract from it

Great job on the vocals!

Sounding good, IMHO: the ride cymbal might still be a tad hot; as in too prominent - could come down 2 or 3 db?
Details... right?
Good song; strong vocals from you, as usual. :? :)
Hope that helps.

I've put a new mix up. Different bass line and I adjusted the drums slightly. Same link.

Thanks for listening everyone!
