Middle Eastern tension
Happy this got forwarded--was afraid it was too busy towards the end.
Was a challenge not to put lots of stuff in the higher registers, but they were clear: don't compete with the dialogue.
Pro tip: I downloaded the reed instrument patch a day before the deadline. Never too late to shake things up!
------------
TENSION INSTRUMENTAL CUES with some MIDDLE EASTERN flavor are needed by a very successful Exclusive Music Library. These Cues are needed for a specific TV Show, and they need lots of them, so if you’ve got them, don’t be shy about submitting for this!
SUSPENSE MUSIC OF MIDDLE EAST (From 0:00 -1:49)
ARABIAN NIGHTFALL
Please send them Instrumental Cues that create a sense of anticipation. Your pieces can include Electronic or Organic Instrumentation, or a hybrid of both, as long as they have some Middle Eastern flavor. Be sure to structure your Cues around a central melodic theme, while adding and subtracting instrumentation as they progress to create some momentum.
They've told us they "...would love to hear Cues that develop nicely every 4 bars, as long as they don't veer off the theme too much. If you include a "B" Section, don't overdo it!" Keep the changes subtle. Please be sure any Middle Eastern samples/Virtual Instruments you use sound authentic and are well executed.
Quoting the Library's CEO again: "They should also watch to not interfere with narration. Cues that take advantage of low frequencies and percussion to move things along with a good pulse would be optimal."
Your submissions should be at least 2 minutes long and should include a Non-faded, Buttoned/Stinger ending. Do NOT copy the referenced examples in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, texture, tone, and vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

Congratulations; FWIW: that was some good 'ear-candy' on its own... very interesting.

Re: Middle Eastern tension
Nice track Mike! I hope you don't mind if I camp onto your post. This is my first time posting on the Taxi Forum, it's also my first forward. Been a member since November and have submitted at least a dozen or so tracks. I'm a little surprised this is the one that made it through, but why not? Here's my entry:
I hope to start contributing more. I signed up for two online courses at the beginning of the year, one focused on writing underscore like this, the other oriented to songwriting for sync. They keep me so busy I haven't had much time for social media, but this seems like a really great community so I hope spend more time here and soak up the knowledge!

I like it Tony—on target and full of surprises.
And very evocative.
If you are new I’d suggest you also watch Taxi videos, which are all about submitting forwardable cues:

Also remember you can post works in progress to get feedback here, which can be invaluable.

Re: Middle Eastern tension
Thanks Mike, I have found the Taxi videos to be full of useful and inspiring info. I especially liked the one about the 5-year plan. That really helped me to not be impatient. I'm in my 50s and of course feel like I should have been doing this years ago, but that kind of pressure doesn't really help me progress now. I'm in my first year trying to write for sync, I just need to keep reminding myself of that. Look forward to participating here. Let's check back in with this thread if either of us gets our piece signed!
