X-tra ears: 50s rock'n'roll ???

Post by HowlingUlf » Tue Apr 23, 2019 5:11 am

Hi ppl! :D

Let's rock! This is for the listing below and it's two mixes, one through a "tube radio" and one through 2019.

Does the song fit?
Is it better to submit the radio version?
Anything else?

This is the song x2

This Music Supervisor needs original, Guitar-Driven, Mid-to-Up-Tempo Songs that would fit on a playlist with these references, which the Music Supervisor gave us:

“Johnny B. Goode” by Chuck Berry

“Jailhouse Rock” by Elvis Presley

"Twenty Flight Rock" by Eddie Cochran

NOTE: Over the course of the next few days you will see quite a few requests from this Music Supervisor as he is working on a series that uses Guitar-based music to represent different eras in music history. This series will need a LOT of different kinds of guitar music, and the Music Supervisor will be using TAXI as one of his primary sources to find that music!

Please send them original, guitar-driven Rock songs that have an authentic 1950s sound. Your submissions should have well-performed, authentic-sounding Rock band instrumentation with a compelling vocal performance that authentically fits with the ‘50s delivery and style of the references.

TAXI Tip: Your submissions can be actual vintage masters recorded in the 1950s, or they can be songs recently recorded and just inspired by that era.

Quoting the Music Supervisor: “I need uplifting songs with plenty of dynamics and Infectious Riffs! Great catchy rhythms with deep pocket energy and drive. These tracks need to feel and sound like the real deal.”

Lyrics that are appropriate to the era and genre are preferred. Please don’t mention specific names, places, dates, times, brands, or profanity. Do NOT copy the referenced artists in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a guide for tempo, texture, and tone. Era-Appropriate Broadcast Quality is needed. In other words, if you're submitting music that's ostensibly from the '50s, it should sound sonically like it's from the '50s -- not 2019 ;-)

HA!
Not my day today ...
I forgot you have the secret link when songs are set to private!
Now it works when I'm logged in in Firefox and when I'm logged out in Chrome.

Hi HowlingUlf,

Well....in my opinion neither version is going to be good enough for this listing.
They are just too stylistically far away from the examples.
Also..the vox are not right for this listing.

A/B your track with any of the 3 examples.... and you should be able to instantly see... your track could not be played in the same playlist as these and fit right in.

The ONLY part that would be ok for this listing is the guitar solo.... that has a bit of the authentic 50's vibe.

Not trying to be mean.... just the truth,
Tim

:o :P 8-)
Weeeeeeeeeeeelllll ... I could imagine them on the same playlist without too much stretching, or any at all.
It would be a wide list?
Jailhouse rock doesn't sound anything like Johnny B Goode, in my little mind either so I dunno haha!
Or is it something specific that makes it fall off the playlist or you think it's no chance for this song for this listing without a total makeover?
Anyways, it is what it is now so ...

Thanks for straight shooting listening no matter what! 8-)

True...none of those songs sound like each other...

BUT
They all have a few things in common... bright bouncy guitars and drums
and great catchy vocals.

That is what is needed for this listing!

Good luck!!!!
