New Latin cue

Post by tresero » Wed Apr 24, 2019 3:16 pm

Since I was paying for a session I figured I finish one of my tunes and have the horns put on it at the same time. Comments on mix/production etc. are appreciated. I'm still stuck in the live musician mode, but one day I promised myself I would get my VST skills together.
Stylistically it's probably not a fit for most American stuff, but who knows. It's Nueva Trova/Cuban Son

Thanks as always.

Hey John,

I really like the horns...especially the swells....great!
The swell into the next part at about :39 and 1:18 are fantastic!
The 4 brass hits after the swell are great also!! you should expand on them and keep going with a bit of a brass hit melody.

I'm not exactly what what the problem is.... maybe it is that the drums seem to be too up front...maybe.
Some of the drum hits are real up close...especially in headphones... like I am sitting with the drummer.

Besides that, it's an outstanding track.

My 4 cents worth,
Tim

Thanks Tim.

I'll check the drums out. I'm allergied out so I may not have as good of hearing as normal.
