"But some higher intelligence—maybe higher than ours—would see that there's an internal system, its got a physiological basis, and I can study the physiological basis of that internal system. -
- Noam Chomsky

He is the most quoted person in the world.

Why there would be something wrong with probability and statistics?"

Philosophy of science. field purity ? (very justified one though)

Neuroscience? And neuroscientific studies : they include all the fields as mentioned in the analog. (even literary critic)
Maybe he meant something else..

Not Singularity.

But is the man saying that we need AI to find - a black box? (not a bad Ai though, the sky net one)
Instead some point’s presented in some previous post’s I might add that - in the light of this article the Artificial intelligence loses it’s possible
“Oxymoron” Status. - and such points then belongs more (as a function of pasts prediction and then a product of the present) into the horizon of existentialism philosophy
(like Immanuel Kant’s: Trancedental argument, Space and time , Objective - Objectual . Kant’s theory of perception. and maybe Neil Postman)

and traditional languages… dealing lightly with Neuroscience , maybe information theory.

The question of can humans know the reality as it is in itself? encompasses the AI status.

Decode?

However when studying the language of the brain as a whole , If Chomsky is implying that ; they-who-we
need to create an intelligence of artificial to study the actual one ? Then how can that happen without the ****** ******* in the field of neurology
as ‘it wouldn’t have been happened’ as pointed out in the article. (the time) No he isn’t -

it's more about cognitive science (naturally) . But that’s a question a brain might ask?

?

But that’s obvious. ( instead just focusing into extraordinary amount of data from for example nerve-cell analysis.)

Well if there is no algorithm there , it might well be the end of some discussion of Ai’s walk in the park of becoming as expected (in the
lense of popular culture ) if not threaten as an Oxymoron: a piece of code working as a replicant of the host - without computational modelling of biophysically realistic neurons / machine learning.

A friend of many musicians: Ray Kurzweil and his associates presents a good read about this:

https://www.kurzweilai.net/do-our-brain ... used-in-ai

If not so though:
To concentrate to the old instead new fields of this particular science - for example In the field of creating neural transplants (neuroplasticity) :
There wouldn’t have been any progress without the major steps learned thru fellowship made in neuroimaging ( or analysis of static data / information )
and computational neuroscience , specially with a strong focus (in computational neuro science) towards Ai , machine learning, AI neural networks , connectionism,
- Instead just concentrating in to the physiology and dynamics around biologically plausible neurons…

but how much these are a different thing? As One leads to another.

Of course they are (and the philosophy of science is probably more related to question)
but what language are the brains using? Does it see things as a static fundamentals - as a whole.

(like image data thru perception and other systems like visual, immune, circulatory)

eg. How would a neuroscientist, linguist and physicist describe a language of say about synesthesia ?

Anyways : Noam Chomsky’s linguist take on the interview is surprisingly giving a suggestion of taking a focus into the language of the brain .
- emphasis thru the Levels: computational, algorithmic, implementation.

So not to AI or just IA anyways (intelligence augmented) ?

“What we might see in the next decade or so is a real virtuous cycle of research between neuroscience and AI,
where neuroscience discoveries help us to develop new AI and AI can help us interpret and understand our experimental data in neuroscience,”
- Richards says

On the bright side:

Using dogs and cats for another hundred years in painful experiments ; and instead just an academic worry about scientific field purity ,
(If it’s pointless) - kind of appears to be even less cool then.

The right direction is important (and specially argue about it) because the ‘scholarship’ of Skinners approach of stimulus and animal response
was overused :

https://www.andrew.cmu.edu/user/rp3h/la ... kultra.pdf
(a program of research in behavioural modification)

..instead an emphasis to the Systematic three-level framework of Marr : ’You could have just ask the fellow’.

Those Harvard folks.

People posted some good links here, I also found a good read about music & AI.

What I conclude is that we are falsely equivocating the brain (organic) and the machine (inorganic). From the false metaphor that one author states of the brain functioning like a computer and vice versa, Chomsky's "Does a submarine swim" quote, the fact that we don't quite fully understand how neurology works, in error conflating the two separate sciences. Real intelligence seems to start with disassociating the two.

For one, the brain has an amygdala, what is the counterpart in a computer? I think maybe that is at least one of the missing links, and perhaps the most important in terms of this discussion, especially concerning the link between music and emotion. If they ever invent one for the computer, and tune out the bugs, that just might be a competition for human versus machine for music composition, however, not all humans are that great at music composition, lol! So...

I googled "Mechanical Brain" and fetched up this gem, from 1950 no less

It makes you wonder, if they are putting so much effort into increasing the IQ of machines, if they are putting as much effort into increasing the IQ of low IQ people.
