"Positive Instrumental" Cue (Advertising-Friendly)

Comments please. Thank you!

POSITIVE INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed for TV COMMERCIALS by a High-End Music Library with countless credits in Feature Films, TV Shows, and Commercials.

NOTE: We recently ran this request as a TAXI Listing (TAXI #Y190810PN), but the company didn’t get enough material and asked us to re-run this request to see if we could find even more. If you submitted to TAXI #Y190810PN, please submit different material this time around!

They’re looking for Instrumental Cues in All Tempos that would fall within the stylistic wheelhouse of the references we got from our client:

Positive Ad-Friendly Examples (Dropbox playlist)

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/khf81tqld290 ... jMPva?dl=0

Please submit well-composed Instrumental Cues that have an "advertising-friendly” sound and vibe. Your production should be driven by organic-based instrumentation and should have some development as it progresses.

The key elements that make this Music Library happy are:

• Cues should have a Positive mood (it can be “warm” and/or “motivational”, but ALWAYS positive.)

• Cues MUST have good edit points.

• Cues must be Library ‘friendly’ (i.e.: a clear theme right from the start. Proper mood and pacing.)

• Instrumental Cues can have an ABAB structure but certainly don't need to (check out the referenced examples). Prominent leads/solos are not needed. The theme/motif should be found more in the arrangement/chord progressions (again, listen to the examples).

• High quality in composition, tone, and performance is all required.

All submissions should be approximately 2 minutes long. Non-Faded, Buttoned endings are preferred. Broadcast Quality is needed.

This Music Library offers an EXCLUSIVE deal with a cool twist. You’ll keep 50% of all gross income generated by your music, plus you’ll get 100% of the Writer’s share income generated by your PRO. In other words, if the company licenses your music under a blanket deal, you’ll get income. If they license it for a YouTube video, you’ll get income. Not all music libraries pay you for things like that! The Publisher will get 100% of the Publisher’s share.

Because this is an Exclusive deal, the music you submit for this pitch cannot already be signed with other Libraries or Publishers. You must own or control 100% of your Master and Composition rights. Please send as many Instrumental Cues as you’d like, online or per CD. All submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis – Short critiques only. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59 PM (PDT) on Friday, September 20th, 2019. TAXI #Y190920TV

Hey JD,

It seems to tick all the boxes. Does the build-release-build-release thing; no prominent solos; happy mood; stinger ending. What's not to like?

I couldn't hear the dropbox examples while at work, but I've heard plenty from previous listings. It sounds competitive.

For whatever it's worth - here's my submission the first time Taxi did this listing:

https://soundcloud.com/user-422260110/good-morning

Here's the comments from my return

"Nie job on this, it was a fun listen, but sort of stays in the same place throughout, consider more layers and elements as you progress to help it build. The examples had a single voice, or instrument, playing a simple happy, uplifting theme or melody to start, and then it was layered and built on from there. (layered with other synths/percussion/pads etc). That's more of what the client needed on this request."

Learn from it what is useful - discard what is useless. Good luck.

Thanks much, David. I appreciate you taking the time to listen and respond.

Best!

I'm no expert in this genre...but here goes. The 1st thing that stick out to me is the synthy sounding guitar or instrument that carries the melodic line. I think that instrument is just strange sounding enough to bring too much attention to itself. The same goes for the synth that takes over the melody around 1:15. Overall the vibe of the piece is just a little to funky/trippy (vs. a more straight forward happy vibe)....not sure if that makes sense. Hope that helps....just my 2 cents.
