Hi All, happy days with two forwards for the pitch below ... full disclosure, the screener did say my production was borderline in terms of being contemporary enough, but they liked the vibe and sent them through. Hope this helps someone!

EMOTIONALLY UPBEAT POP/ROCK INSTRUMENTAL CUES are needed by a NON-Exclusive Music Licensing Company for the Music Supervisor of a new competition-based Reality TV Series!
They’re on the hunt for Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumental Cues that would fit well on a playlist with the following references:
“Dear Future Self (Hands Up)” by Fall Out Boy ft. Wyclef Jean
“Teeth” by 5 Seconds of Summer
“HEY CHILD” by X Ambassadors
Although the references have vocals, they’re only looking for Instrumental Cues for this pitch.
Please submit well-crafted Instrumental Cues that are rhythmically and melodically engaging and convey a genuinely fun Pop/Rock sound. Add and subtract layers of instrumentation as your Cues progress to create dynamics and to keep from sounding too repetitive or linear. Make sure your productions sound like a real band with great musicianship and instrumentation that you’d hear in typical Pop/Rock, even if you’re using Virtual Instruments.
TAXI Tip: Having a tasteful blend of contemporary electronic instrumentation mixed in with Rock elements could help you hit the sweet spot for this request, but you’d be wise to keep them somewhat minimal so they don’t take away from the Pop/Rock Vibe.

Re: Upbeat pop/rock
Thanks Tom for sharing these and the feedback that came with your forwards.
I agree the vibe is good on both, as I didnt want to stop listening!
Curious, did they indicate any specifics on your production that needed help?
The first song, I heard some upper register stuff that sounded a bit too hard-edged.

Re: Upbeat pop/rock
Hi Susan, thanks for your kind words No ... the advice was non-specific .. in fact the exact phrase used was 'get a bit more cutting edge with your productions'. For me, that just means a little more time spent listening to my stuff against the reference tracks until I better understand the difference.Susanstunes wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2019 1:52 pm
