Puzzled by a review

Post by EricBeaule » Tue Apr 30, 2019 7:09 pm

Hi guys,

I've been a member since August 2018.
So rather new to the Taxi eco-system
This is actually my first post on the forum.

I just got back a critique, for a song that got returned, which leaves me a bit puzzled.
It did have the mention:
The song will be screened on a Yes/No basis - No full critiques.
Time permitting, the Music Supervisor himselfmight be able to screen submissions for this request!
comment was:
Too much reverb on this recording to work well for this use.

Does this mean that If I'd bring down some the reverb, the song be spot-on for the listing?
Is there a way to re-send or re-pitch for that listing once it's over?

Usually, I find the critiques very helpful and insightful.
This one leaves me a bit puzzled.

Do you feel that it might have been a Supervisor's review?

Lastly, is there a way to share a song via Taxi hosting page to get peers' feedback?

Thanks for letting me know your thoughts and insights

I suppose it's possible, but not a guarantee by any means. This may have just been something that was a deal-breaker early on, and the screener recognized it and addressed in in the return.

As far as I know, there is not a way to re-pitch for a listing. My guess is that it's best to go back and correct it, save it for something in the future, and continue on to something new.

I don't think there is any way to tell specifically if this was a Supervisor's review or not, but I have noticed in my experience that the level of detail and format of a review can vary A TON based on who is doing the critique. I've had some critiques with very minimal information/text, and others that give quite a bit of context and even encouragement at times.

If you're new to the forums, I suggest doing some hangin out in the Peer to Peer area. It's there to provide a place for people to post links of their music for the purpose of receiving thoughts/critiques from other fellow taxi members! Soundcloud.com is a great and free way to post songs. After you've got it uploaded, you can go to the Peer to Peer section, create a post, share the backstory (listing details, etc) and provide the link to your song.

Hope that helps a little, and don't be discouraged by the return! As they say, the way to do this thing is write, submit, forget, repeat.

Andrew

Best to post up the track and the listing, so we can listen.

The screener may have just put the most obvious return reason for speed and not given you the full lowdown.

There's no do over though..best you can hope for is a similar listing

Hey Eric -

If you can figure out the link to your Taxi page, you can post in the Peer to Peer section with a comment like "Go listen to Eric's Monday Song on my Taxi page." make sure it is Viewable by the public.

I haven't figured out a way to link directly to a taxi-hosted song.

As Andrew mentioned, many folks will post the track to SoundCloud for critique (you can leave it Private if you are concerned about the site security that may help a little).

Best of luck!

Jay :)

Thank you for your replies and guidance guys.

Getting more frequent forwards now,
I even received a contract for one song from a library last week.

See you at the Road Rally :D
