I've started inputing song information. I don't have all of my post-it notes from my spiral notebook put in the program yet.

It asks all the picky questions, like bpm, key signature, and PRO. It also helps you keep up with your business contacts. I like the part where you can label your songs by mood.

I've used programs that let songwriters track their music and lyric ideas, and this one is different than those because of its focus on the business and networking side of things.

Even if you could put all of this information into the comments field in ProTools, it's got a sort function, it will run reports, that will help you look up songs quicker than pulling up a track to see what's on it.

It's giving me confidence and peace of mind that I'm keeping up with my metadata correctly.

Thanks!

I use it!
As the number of tracks I'm writing has steadily increased this year for me, it's quite helpful for keeping track of them all.
I can resubmit tracks to other listings by searching for same keywords.

That's a good point.

I just recorded a Christmas track that needs to be redone. I should be able to submit it to another listing next year (or before if I get it together in time).

Can the program be used to edit and save metadata in your MP3s? Or is it completely 'offline' in that regard?

Hi Alan,

To the best of my knowledge, it cannot attach metadata to an mp3. Recently, I've been using ProTools for that. But before they had that as a function, I used Music Tag.

One of the benefits of Composer Catalogue is letting you search through your own music quickly when you have to find something. Like, did I ever hear back from that producer? Or, when someone calls you two years after you've written something and you've forgotten all about it. It also makes you focus on the descriptive words for your songs.

I hope this helps!

Best,
