The biggest earner is Ticker, with placements on 4 Eps of Catfish
Drone-y Tension Cue, or how would you classify this?

Tom
It was done to a brief that asked for cues that included ticking sounds, some of the sounds are actual clocks from my house recorded on a Zoom handheld recorder

Hi Mark,

Thanks for sharing and congratulations. I hope people who quit with in a year because they had gazillion forwards but no placements see this.

By the way I noticed you joined in 2010, just curious was there anything going on prior 2016 ? Where you submitting tracks?

Again, nice tracks, it is good to hear and to know what they mean now by " make sure your sounds are not dated" it really is fresh.

Good luck

Congrats on all your success! Did all your placement's come from taxi listings?

Quite simply I joined the forum to learn what it was all about and it took me 5 years to finally decide take the plunge.

During that time I was making music just for fun with my friends on a music collaboration site, writing songs mostly or doing mixes for people, I was also having singing lessons and did some online piano training as well. I paid for some professional mix feedback from Mike Senior who wrote the book Mixing Secrets For The Small Studio as well sorting out the acoustics in my studio.

If I do something I tend to go "all in" so I wouldn't join just on a whim. Fail to prepare , prepare to fail as they say - it just took me 5 years preparation

I don't think any of the tracks from the Taxi Listings got placed directly.

It was more a case of once you're in they want more music and some of those subsequent tracks got placed.

Some of the placements were written specifically for the shows they ended up in like The Kardashians and The Challenge because the Libraries had sent out briefs , some of those direct briefs also appeared as Taxi Listings but obviously once you're in you can submit directly. They still get screened and sometimes rejected

Quite a number of my returns / rejected tracks have ended up in other Libraries and been placed as well.

I would say the bulk of my placements are from the Taxi friendly Libraries.

Thanks for that Mark and congrats. I’m still waiting to get through that first open door. Quite a few forwards but no traction yet.
Do the libraries send out requests to their writers, or are you chasing them for genres they need?

Cheers

Peter

A bit of both but mostly the former. I only go chasing if there's nothing in the pipeline but most of the time there is enough sent my way to keep me busy.
