Independent film success
Just signing the contract in this 'direct to producer' listing from nearly a year ago!
Thanks to everyone at Taxi for their support and encouragement. I'm just over a year in at Taxi and had a track signed to a music library last year and now this film deal came through a few weeks ago.
None of it would have happened without Taxi and you guys out there - thank you! There's such a wealth of information and inspiration in these forums.
Here's the track:
Here's the listing from April 2019:
FUNKY HIP-HOP INSTRUMENTALS are needed for an up-to $200, NON-Exclusive, Direct-to-Producer placement in an Independent Feature Film. They’re looking for a Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumental that could work as a replacement for “Nobody Speak,” which is currently temped in this Film:
“Nobody Speak (Instrumental)” by DJ Shadow ft. Run the Jewels
This Film's Producer is NOT looking for clones or soundalikes! Similar tempo, style, and overall vibe? Yes. Clones? No!
Quoting the Film's Producer: “We love the funky drum beat the most, with potential for big band sounds in and out. This song takes place during another fun montage when our lead character has become much cooler and is getting revenge on those that had been mean to him in the past.”
Please submit fresh Instrumentals (Not Cues) that are in the ballpark of the general vibe, style, and energy of the reference above. Your Instrumental should have current-sounding production with an infectious beat and some cool Funk Elements (like horns and grooving bass parts!)
All submissions should be between 2:00 to 3:00 long, give or take. Non-Faded, Buttoned/Stinger endings will work best. Do not copy the references in any way, shape, or form. Also, do not submit any material with unauthorized samples of other artists’ songs, sounds, or any other form of media. Broadcast Quality is needed.
The estimated license fee for this placement is between $150 - $200, depending on the ultimate use. This is a Non-Exclusive, Direct-to-Producer placement, so you’ll keep 100% ownership of your Copyright and Master Recording, plus you’ll also get 100% of the Master License Fee and any applicable performance royalties. You must own or control your Copyright and Master Recording to pitch for this opportunity. All Submissions will be screened on a Yes/No basis. No full critiques. Please submit as many Instrumentals as you’d like online or per CD. Submissions must be received no later than 11:59PM (PDT) on Wednesday, April 17th, 2019. TAXI #Y190417HH

Re: Independent film success
Nice Job Chris,
The energy throughout the song, with different instruments, seemed to be perfect for what they needed.
Congrats,
Ron
