Wondering if this is in the ballpark. Maybe to fast, and too complex?

SAD, MELANCHOLY INSTRUMENTALS are needed for an (up to) $500, Direct-to-Producer placement in an Independent Feature Film!
This film's Producer is currently looking for a Down-Tempo Instrumental that’s in the general stylistic ballpark of the following reference he gave us:
"Knowing" by Michael Vignola
NOTE: The client is looking for something that evokes emotions of sadness, loss, and depression, as this will be played as a character unravels a dark memory.
Please send well-composed Instrumentals with a sad, melancholy, and/or somber mood. Your arrangements/productions can be as simple as solo piano and violin. Adding some simple additional instrumentation (like the drums and synth pads heard in the second half of the reference) may also work. Keep things relatively sparse, and give them something that has a bleak and depressing tone that will leave the audience with a heavy heart.
TAXI Tip: If you’re using samples or Virtual Instruments, be sure that they don't sound synthetic or obviously MIDI-driven for this request.
Your submissions should be about 2 to 3 minutes in length, give or take. Non-faded, buttoned endings will work best. Do NOT copy the reference in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

Jon,
Either the link to your song or the listing is wrong. There's no similarity between the static, loop-based ref track and your lively, entertaining jazz tune.
edit: ..and it's just a hunch, but I think when a film supe gives exactly one reference, it's because that ref has been "temp'd" into the scene already. Any music submitted IMHO needs to be able to drop right in.
