Old Forum Content

I'm a new member and am reviewing forum posts. Some of the content is years old. I believe the music industry changes fairly quickly so I'm wondering if all the information in the forum is still relevant. For example, the top (pinned?) post in the BIZ TALK discussion group is from 2008, titled Making significant $ with film/TV music and has a link to a YouTube video from 2007. Is there any rule of thumb regarding what content is typically relevant years later and what content goes out of date more quickly?
