Holiday songs - ALL genres? Or is this too 'out there'?

Post by TrevFury » Mon Jun 29, 2020 10:59 pm

Hey y'all. Need to pick your brain on genre.

There are some listings for Christmas/Holiday songs that say 'ALL GENRES' in the title. Does that mean literally all genres, or just the ones in the examples?

The reason I ask is that I've got this version of 'The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy' from the Nutcracker Suite. It's instrumental, but it doesn't belong on a playlist with Mariah Carey.

I realize none of the Christmas/Holiday listings are currently calling for instrumentals at the moment. I'm just wondering in general, when there's a holiday instrumental listing for ALL GENRES, do I just skip this one and try to do something more conventional, or do I just submit it just in case?

The likelihood that a library will be actually calling for a metal instrumental of a Nutcracker tune is pretty much zero I'm sure. lol

I think it's cool and really well done

Will it fly for the Listing ? Well it says all genres...Could I imagine a TV show using this ? Yes for sure in the right scene / show...Sports programming tends to use more rock music, pretty sure they have Christmas shows, so whilst it won't be in the next Hallmark Christmas Movie I can definitely imagine it being useful to a Library.

Personally I'd be more surprised if it didn't get forwarded than if it did.

Wow, thanks for saying so, Mark!

Definitely would not be in a tender moment in a Hallmark show. lol I hadn't thought of sports programming as a home for it, but that totally makes sense.

Awesome work. Love the squeaks indicating "the real deal" :) This is a keeper for sure. For a fiver, I would give it a go. Can't imagine the speed you are playing those notes. 50 years ago I could play pretty fast, but not like that. congrats

Sincerely

Paul

So bad ass! I agree with what Mark wrote. There's a show out there in need of this for Christmas.

Thanks, Paul! I always loved the whimsical melody of this tune, and actually tracked the guitar while on the road overseas on an airbrush job. But in the context of submitting to a listing, it seems like there will never be a listing calling for a shred guitar metal instrumental version of a song from the Nutcracker Suite. lol

Regarding the speedy part in the middle, it's not as hard as it sounds. I'd be happy to share the pattern if you're ever interested.
