In Time, We Rise [Emotional Uplifting Piano/Orechestral Cue]

Post by rpeckyno » Tue Jul 14, 2020 2:31 pm

Hello Taxi Fam!

If I can steal 2 min of your time, I'd appreciate any feedback that you might have on:
In Time, We Rise - https://soundcloud.com/imaginaurium/in-time-we-rise
for the cue call pasted below.

I especially would like to hear if you feel it is 'too grand' at the kick in. I felt there were similar builds in the examples, but (like all of us) am second guessing myself constantly.
Any and all other feedback is also welcomed gratefully!

Best regards,

-robert peckyno

---

The call is for EMOTIONALLY UPLIFTING ORCHESTRAL INSTRUMENTAL CUES

This is a catalog you want to be in! Please listen to the following examples our client gave us to get yourself in the ballpark of what they need:

Instrumental Examples

Quoting The Music Library: “These reference tracks are intended to inspire you and help you understand what we’re after. The examples should give you a deeper and more intuitive feel for the main aspects of composition, mood, and sound, but in no way are we asking you to copy them. We’re looking for your own unique interpretation.”

The client is looking for Inspiring Instrumental Cues that start quietly and build to a lush, dramatic climax. Submissions should have ONE clear compositional concept per Cue and should continuously build throughout. Please avoid very prominent melodies, and instead use understated motifs and accents that complement the patterns/textures.

Your Instrumental Cues should be primarily Orchestral-based, and should be relatively minimalistic in their arrangements. They are NOT looking to hear epic trailer style Instrumental Cues for this request. It’s fine to have a few lower percussion hits in isolated spots, but in general, stay away from anything that sounds too big or grand.

Thanks for letting me know Mike - I had Soundcloud set to private - now switched to public. I had thought I could share the link without making it public, but perhaps I was wrong...? Should be gtg now. (and thanks again!)

You can share private songs from Soundcloud, but you have to get the "private" link from SC - it'll be something with a gibberish code at the end of your title. Instead of soundcloud.com/me/my-song, it'll be soundcloud.com/me/my-song-a89f3fn.

Will check it out later!

Cheers,
Mike

My 2 cents - I think the part before the big drop at the end feels just a tad long for me. I also think a "riser" or something of that nature (not a literal EDM riser but just something like a cymbal ride or other transition sound) might help with the final loud section not feeling jarring. Stripping down like you did before a big moment can work too but for whatever reason when I heard it I kind of heard some kind of short transition in my head.

Cheers,
Mike

Hi Robert,
I totally enjoyed listening to your cue. In my opinion, the production quality is great. With that said, I may not be the best person to ask since I rarely get my music forwarded. However, if I were screening for this listing, I would forward it!
Good luck!
Steve

Thanks Mike - that's valuable! I also completely hear a cymbal (with mallets perhaps) transition into the hit but just could not find a cymbal on the keys that could do that convincingly enough. I think there is an orchestral pack in my future... ;) There is something to the 'heartstop' moment musically - I just couldn't decide if it added or took away.

Thanks again Mike!

Wow, thank you so much Steve! :) I'm still less than 5 submissions (it's only been a month you slave drivers!) in so every bit of feedback is gold. I guess it's all about if it's 'right' for the moment. /fingerscrossed

Love the piano, but do not love the strings that much, they sound very "outer space", and the screener might point out "synthy"/non realistic. And the ending is very abrupt, I was waiting for a nice ringing out...

Thanks Marco - great feedback! I agree the strings could be better. I tried layering multiple different string sounds to help with it, but that was my #1 complaint that I was unable to fix...

Am going to try and quickly knock out a version with a longer ring out while there is still time!

Big thanks again Marco!
