Minimalistic 50s Cues

Post by tonys » Wed Dec 23, 2020 12:24 pm

I'm working on some new material for listing #S210108FT and was wondering if I could get some feedback from the group? I'm concerned that my drums (and possibly piano?) are too active for a minimalistic cue.

Back Seat Bingo

I've been struggling with motivation lately and for some reason this listing has captured my imagination. There are no reference tracks so I'm hoping this is in the ballpark of what they're looking for. What do you all think?

I think you started with something cool
problem is it doesn't groove
the bass is fighting the guitar for attention and then the two don't really sync up with the drums...
I would just mix the guitr/claps/drums till they really groove
then circle back to the bass to see how it can join in (maybe simplify it's line)
At some point the bass could play that line when the guitar isn't present?

Thank you! That's a great suggestion. I think I will hold the bass out for a little bit and then simplify the part when I do bring in. Appreciate you taking the time, thanks!
