What exactly does "inviting rhythms" mean?

Post by NateFitch » Wed Apr 21, 2021 5:18 pm

So, first off, I'm a drummer. I know a lot about rhythm. HOWEVER, I'm seeing "inviting rhythms" as a requirement in a lot of listings, and also had a song returned because it lacked this obscure thing.... Please help.

Can you post the text of specific listings? I've seen some adjectives attached to 'rhythm', but not this particular one. What genre?

As a first impression, I'm thinking Johann Strauss- style waltzes when I read "inviting rhythms". Probably not many listing for that, though ;)

Inviting rhythm means that it "invites" you to groove along with it... tap your toe, move your body, etc. It's catchy, gets your attention, draws you in to it, and invites you to follow along.

Actually, any aspect of a song can invite you to follow along or get more involved - inviting lyrics, inviting melody, etc.

Hope that helps,
Michael
