Show the waveforms

Post by superblonde » Tue Jun 29, 2021 12:42 pm

I hope the rally can show the audio waveforms when playing tracks in panels. This doesn't have to be animated during playback. Simply sharing a screenshot of the track waveform while it plays would be ok.

Seems to be a popular request based on statements of interest made by some Taxi Tv viewers.

Why? I could honestly be missing something but I'm not seeing the relevance of seeing the waveforms while listening. We should use our ears, not our eyes.

Because one of the most frequent topics is about growth or development or melodic arc or layering (aka texture) or dynamics and these are seen on the waveform, often easily. As well as form in some cases. It was mentioned by several panelists and even the music supervisor who said, sometimes they accept/reject based on listening to just 5 seconds of a track and seeing the shape of the waveform.
