I recently worked with Stacy Hogan at 'A Writer's Paradise' and can't say enough good things about the experience. He took my three 1990s-era songs and gave them an updated Nashville rinse.
I have consistently gotten solid critiques from TAXI screeners on the songs themselves, but have also consistently heard that they needed updated production values.
I'm not a country guy by any stretch, but am now choosing to go where the fish are. You can hear the three songs Stacy did for me along with my original songwriter demos at: https://peterboynton.com/music.
I'm plugging his studio, not my music. I wish I'd seen a post like this sooner to head me in their direction. Figure @$1000/song. Worth it in my estimation.

As a 'rider in a similar boat', I greatly appreciate your detailed post & recommendation. I'd heard Mike Lusk's name.
So far, other than hiring some individual Nashville players, I've only used one demo company: Beaird Music Group.
I'm always looking to add options to my ROLODEX/first-call list.
