Sorry guys and gals. I’m still new to the community, and although I’ve watched a number of discussions of stingers on the YouTube channel, I still don’t quite understand what is meant by a “fade”. I get that a fade would include a long jam that is faded down on the board, but would a ritard in the music or a decrescendo out count as one as well?
(Hey Google, ritard should be in your autocorrect dictionary…)
Thanks for all replies!

Re: Yet another question about fade and/or stingers
Hi and welcome to the forum.
IF you are writing for TV & Film, I would think you want to avoid any type of Fade. ( Fade being the music slowly disappears into the horizon). Music supervisors & editors like clean crisp edit points, and that includes the ending of the tune.
Having a ritard at the end of the piece is fine as long as it's ends cleanly.
Hope this helps!

Re: Yet another question about fade and/or stingers
Thanks for the reply! I think what I meant by decrescendo was a subtle one, not a fade as you would add in post. You know, a drop from forte to mezzo piano or so. I’m general, what I’m asking is if a fairly strong drop in energy is alright.
