PERCUSSION-Based INSTRUMENTAL
Hi all!
Looking for any feedback on this track in progress for the listing below: https://www.taxi.com/members/Gjdf7sdFR5 ... ercussions
Thank you,
Doug

PERCUSSION-Based INSTRUMENTALS are needed by a great Publisher with an awesome track record of really big placements in TV Commercials!
This Publisher is looking for a bunch of Mid-to-Up-Tempo Instrumentals that could fit stylistically on a playlist with the following examples:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5atXvRiigk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNlfYcn-BS4
Please submit well-produced, impactful Instrumentals that feature Percussive instruments as their focal point. Some additional instrumentation is okay, but the main focus of your pieces should be their infectious rhythms. Be sure your production and any virtual instruments or samples you use are polished and high-quality. This Publisher wants music that's going to get viewers pumped up and excited about what's being advertised in the commercial – give them that!
IMPORTANT TAXI Tip: Simpler is almost always better for pitches like this! Don't try to win "Percussionist of the Year" by submitting complex rhythms or too many instruments. Simpler tracks seem to work much more effectively when used with dialogue and voice-overs in TV commercials.
Submissions should be about 2 minutes long, give or take. Non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings will work best for this pitch. Do NOT copy the referenced material in any way, shape, or form. Use it only as a guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

Re: PERCUSSION-Based INSTRUMENTAL
cool track - and, it DOES seem to these old ears like it could fit on a playlist, at least with the first ref...
which, to me - was almost like a hybrid marching band thing. "Drumline" comes to mind.
HTH.

Good energy. I might add a little more reverb. The toms seemed to have had more. Were the toms virtual and the others live?

Thanks for your feedback! Much appreciated and will take it into account. All the sounds were samples, but glad they sounded live!
Many thanks,
Doug

Douglas
Totally nails the vibe on the McDonalds cue. That one is only :15, so it's a challenge to give 1:30 of drums solo, but I think you've done it nicely.
Best of success with it.

Re: PERCUSSION-Based INSTRUMENTAL
Douglas,
Slammin! Sounds fluid, not "midi" at all
I did feel a bit of a slowdown of the layers/progressing motion/arc in the second half of the cue. Maybe just my impression at the moment?

Re: PERCUSSION-Based INSTRUMENTAL
Thanks a million for the feedback, Alan - much appreciated. You are right about the progression, it's much more subtle in the second half, so I need to re-listen and see if I can create more dynamics there. Cheers! Doug
