so there's this listing of a sad strings and piano instrumental cue, and I thought I'd give it a try. I'd love to hear your feedback, and critiques, whether it's an instrument that you feel needs improving, production and even composition.

Although one of the references has vocals, please submit Instrumental Cues only for this pitch.

Please submit modern Piano and String Instrumental Cues that could pull at the listeners' heartstrings. Craft your Cues around a singular motif, and create a sense of forward momentum and dynamics by layering instrumentation in and out as they progress. If you plan on using virtual piano or string instruments, they should sound like the real thing and not dated, stiff, or obviously MIDI-driven. Please be sure that your production is high-quality and current-sounding, as well.

Submissions should be about 2 minutes long, give or take, and have non-faded, buttoned/stinger endings. Do NOT copy the references in any way, shape, or form. Use them only as a general guide for tempo, tone, and overall vibe. Broadcast Quality is needed.

Hi Edmond,

I feel that the mood changed a bit as the sue progressed, started out sad and got less sad as it went on.

I like the track, especially the dissonant piano chords at the beginning.

It did as this is my B section for the cue. I hope that's not too distracting, but I didn't want to have it repeat the same thing over and over again.

5/4… a nice twist. Really nice music! Nice variation for the second section. but I think the departure to a major key in the B section takes it out of the category for a sad strings & piano cue. This is a beautiful composition, too good to be just a cue!

I really like the strings, which library are you using?

Thank you Paul, I appreciate it, specially coming from you!
I was a bit hesitant with the B section, but without it, it was too repetitive, IMO. I hope it won't get rejected just for that, any editor is capable of editing out the unwanted bits.
Anyway, regarding the strings, I have an 8dio Adagio Viola (as my main "violin" lead), for the B section I'm using Tina Guo's cello (the old version), and I'm having flautando strings from one spitfire library (forgot the name TBH).

Late to this party...
maybe due to I usually do songs, not instrumentals - but, the strings seem to come in too early in the piece... almost abruptly.
If the piano could have played solo for 10-11 seconds of 'Intro'/set up - then a soft introduction of the strings; would've suited my old-guy ears better.
The composition & articulation of the instruments sound good.
My 3 cents and a nickel change.
